This year was possibly one of the bast so far. We met agaqin in Warwick at the newly named Marriott hotel on Thursday Sepember 8th, but the reunion dinner was not until Saturday 10th.
The sad news on the Friday was that our beloved queen, Elizabeth2 had died. However despite the sad news, we decided to continue with the reunion though the atmosphere was somewhat subdued.
There was a very good turnout from ex members of the regiment, though the youngest would be well into his seventies. Ex corps members who attended were Trevor Broadley, John Hill, Faz Fadzilah and Brian Tewkesbury (ex Seletar troop ) Alan Lewis,Selby Robinson (ex Ops troop) Martin Oliver, Frank Smith, Brian Bartrum, Dennis Isaacs, Barry Vargas and Pat Soward (Changi) and Chris Mills, Ken Durrant, Martin Prior, Bob Foskett and Terry Kidd (ex microwave troop).
The planned trip to Bletchley Park went ahead as expected on the Saturday afternoon and the meals were served on Saturday evening . All members took part in the ubiquitous John Hill quiz . One of the highlights of the evening was the surprise appearance of a 90th birthday cake to celebrate Pat Soward's birthday. Frank Smith led the loyal toasts which in addition to our Col In Chief Princess Anne, included a phrase unknown to the majority of us.Ladies and gentlemen, The King.
Several family members and friends were also present taking the total number who sat down to dinner as 56. An excellent turnout.
The evening went on without a hitch and after a brief AGM, we decided to go ahead next year, possibly at a new venue, on Saturday September 9th 2023.
