I regret to say that although things are happening, they are moving very very slowly. I have lost count of the number of emails which have been circulated between Pat and Myself and the involvement of all the committee in trying to move ahead.
We have looked very closely at a number of venues. The most promising were the Staverton Golf and Country club and also the Marriott at Huntingdon. There were at least another 4 venues which were " in the running"
However the main problem and sometimes the only problem was in Terms and Conditions which have now become impossible to meet. Some booking arrangements were unsuitable and some deposits impossible to meet. Other main factors were cancellation fees which could have cost our members their deposit if for any reason they had to cancel.
Pat was not willing to sign these "terms" as it could be costly if we went ahead and members had to cancel.
So where are we now ? Providing their Terms and Conditions have not changed, we may have to go back to The Warwick Marriott next year. I know members are a bit fed up with the same venue. but it is worth remembering it is who you meet with that is important.
