Hi all, I know I’m a bit late with this review but I do think it’s worth sharing.
Although I have been a member of the RSCCC for a few years there was always a date clash for us on lots of events but last month Janice and I finally made our 1st outing with the RSCCC at Kirkby Steven. Honestly it was like going to a new posting, although you didn’t know many people, after the 1st hour you knew everyone, not that they were in you face, they all just made us feel so welcome, even had offers of help to put the awning up.
Obviously a lot of background work had gone on, selecting a really nice clean site with lovely level pitches. The icing on the cake was having the bar and somewhere to eat, the atmosphere was just great.
This was an event that was deliberately a help yourself and feed yourself and was organised by popular demand by the admin team.
Friday and Saturday we all gathered to share our stories, some played games that were really funny and of course Saturday we had the raffle with some amazing prizes, not. Thankfully there were a few bottles raffled and I was lucky enough to have a sip or 2 of someone’s bottle of port because I had the oldest regimental number at the event. - There lies an invitation to you out their who’s reg number is lower than 24165***, they’ll think your grandad and feed you lots of port as well.
During the day you just done as you pleased or you could get involved with others and go on an organised walk, of course there was always a turn around point that included the good old country pub.
The point of this post is to just say after our 1st outing we are totally sold on joining the RSCCC on many more outings, we have already booked for the 10th Anniversary in September 2024 and rumour has it that there is probably going to be an outing late May bank holiday next year, just watch this space. In fact if you joined the members site at £5 a head as I’ve done you will get advance notice of all events.
We really look forward to meeting more of you at future events
Tom & Janice
