A record number of ex 19 Signal regt servicemen, their friends and families will be attending this year's reunion including several new members. This year we are also delighted to include a number of ex members of 603 Signal Troop, who were based in Masirah in the seventies. They include Cliff Kerry, Malcolm Hopper, Bill(Fiji) Allen and Chris Williams. This was an unaccompanied posting and at the time John Hill was the Foreman, the troop commander. In addition we are going to welcome for the first reunion Martin Prior and Ken Durrant. In addition, when the regiment closed in 1971 a small number of LEPs decided to join the British Army and one of those was Gaz Fadzilah who at the time was a member of Seletar troop. He eventually married his old sweetheart from Seletar and they are now living in Newark. They will be joining us this year so its also a warm welcome to them. It is also a great opportunity to meet the families of some of our members who have sadly passed on including Bernie Strange's family, John Horne's, Ray Cank's extended family, Gerry Funnell's son Ben and Martin Oliver, whose brother was a member for many years.
Friday is always a meet and greet day and gives us the opportunity to "swing the lampshades" over an informal dinner on Friday evening. Despite the possible headaches, it is our intention to travel by coach on the Saturday morning to Cheltenham, where, fingers croosed, a steam train with a reserved department will take us to Broadway. After spending the afternoon in Broadway, we will return to the hotel for the evening meal.
The ubiquitous John Hill quiz will accompany the dinner which will be followed by a very short and to the point AGM. Further details of the reunion are published in our newsletter The Bulletin, produced and edited by our Chairman Pat Soward.
