Sixteen Runners, One Finish Line: 11 (RSS) Signal Regiment Takes On the Altra Yorkshire Marathon 2026

The Charity

On 18th October 2026, a team of 16 service personnel from 11 (RSS) Signal Regiment will line up at the start of the Altra Yorkshire Marathon, ready to take on 26.2 miles in support of the Royal Signals Charity.

The team is made up of Jake Scott, Jake Larkin, Matt Gray, Jack Twynham, Mitchell Harrington, Charlie Robson, Aiden Oliver, Callum Evans, Saurap Gurung, Alex Bridge, Kieran Cunningham, Oliver Humpleby, Stuart Hindes, Daniel Silk, Lydia O'Conner and Kai Wideman. Many of them will be running their very first marathon, a challenge that demands extraordinary physical endurance and mental strength and pushes even the fittest athletes to their limits.

Getting to the start line has been an achievement in itself. The team has completed an intense 15-week training campaign, balancing early starts, long weekend runs and the demands of military life. That commitment, week in and week out, is a credit to each of them and shows the dedication and spirit that define the Regiment.

The team is raising money for the Royal Signals Charity, with a fundraising goal of £2,400. The charity provides essential aid to members of the Royal Signals family and fosters the community spirit that holds the Corps together. Every pound donated helps it to continue that work, and no contribution is too small. If you are able to give, please visit the team's fundraising page at https://www.justgiving.com/page/ex-yorkshire-road-runner and help get them across the finish line with strength and solidarity.

We would also encourage other units to follow their lead. Whether it is a marathon, a fun run, a challenge week or something entirely your own, taking on a challenge in support of the Royal Signals Charity is a brilliant way to build team spirit, push personal limits and give something back to those who need it. If 16 runners from one Regiment can do this, imagine what could be achieved if units across the Corps joined in.

Congratulations to the whole team on the effort, teamwork and determination shown so far. You have trained together, pushed each other on and shown what can be achieved when people support one another. It is a fine example of one Corps, one family.

Good luck to all 16 on race day. Run strong, enjoy every mile, and know that the whole Corps is behind you.
