The Charity

A Massive Thank You to Cpl Joe Nalewabau, Sgt Joseph Bibi and LCpl Kola Nalewabau

#56for56Challenge

On 8 October 2026, in celebration of the 56th anniversary of Fiji Day, Cpl Joe Nalewabau, Sgt Joseph Bibi and LCpl Kola Nalewabau, representing the Fijian Royal Signals Association Branch, took on an incredible endurance challenge to mark this important national milestone.

The trio completed 56 km of running, 56 km of rowing and 56 km of cycling within approximately eight hours, demonstrating outstanding determination, teamwork and resilience. The challenge also celebrated the longstanding friendship between Fiji and the United Kingdom while raising funds for the Royal Signals Charity.

Reflecting on the event, Joe shared how the team trained daily under the guidance of their PTI, Cpl Thapa. Although the rowing proved to be the most demanding part, the team remained focused and felt blessed and grateful for the support they received. He added that the most rewarding aspect was raising funds for the charity and witnessing the generosity of everyone who contributed.

Thanks to the dedication of Joe, Joseph and Kola, and the generosity of their supporters, a fantastic £1,878 was raised for the Royal Signals Charity!

On behalf of the Fijian Royal Signals Association Branch, we extend our heartfelt thanks and congratulations to the three individuals for their outstanding efforts. We also thank Cpl Thapa for his guidance and everyone who donated, encouraged and supported the team.

Your commitment has made a real difference and demonstrated the strength of teamwork, community spirit and the bond between Fiji and the United Kingdom.

Vinaka vakalevu, Joe, Joseph and Kola - You have made us so proud.
