This event will take the form of a fireside chat interview with Richard Savage, a former Royal Signals Warrant Officer who is now employed by JPMorgan Chase & Co. In 2020 Richard achieved Chartered IT Professional (CITP) status through BCS The Chartered Institute for IT.
CITP is the gold standard professional status in the IT industry as Chartered Engineer is to engineering or Chartered Accountant is to Accountancy. CITP is open to anyone who can show 3+ years evidence of working at Level 5 or higher in SFIA (The Skills Framework for the Information Age).
In Army/RN language that’s likely to embrace warrant officers and commissioned officers between the rank of Captain/Lieutenant and Lt Colonel/Commander who are have a strong IT theme to their career in any SFIA skills domain (strategy, consulting, project management, infrastructure, security, service, training, etc, etc, etc).
While CITP is designed to have a very broad and inclusive catchment area of potential applicants, the #1 reason why seasoned IT practitioners fail to attain CITP is simply this: They fail to fill out the application form in the first place - assuming they aren’t qualified/experienced enough or that CITP is only for IT practitioners in other fields of IT specialism than their own.
This Talking Tuesday event is designed to demystify CITP and encourage the widest possible audience of potential applicants to start the process.
NB. The event will also be open to members of WCIT.
