An Illustrated Presentation by David Hassard

This talk will take place at our newly selected venue at Christ Church Church Hall, Gally Hill Road, Church Crookham GU52 6LH

We have taken this opportunity to invite David Hassard, who many will remember gave us an excellent talk in 2022 on the life of multi-talented Thomas Sopwith.

David’s talk this time covers the challenges, frustrations, dramas and achievements of all the contenders in the race to be first to fly across the Atlantic in 1919, culminating in the successful flight of Alcock and Brown in a modified Vickers Vimy bomber.

Pre-talk refreshments will be served from 10.15. Proceedings will begin around 10.50. They are due to end around 12.15 when we can then retire to The Forrester’s Arms, Church Crookham. Everyone will of course be free to go their own way after the talk if they so wish.

Cost per head will be £10. This covers contribution to hire of venue, donations to Speaker’s chosen charity and refreshments on arrival.
