Last month, the Royal Signals Corps HQ had the honour to host Gwen Pettigrew who was officially welcomed back into the Corps family. Originally from a small North Lanarkshire village near Glasgow, Gwen served as a Terminal Equipment Technician in the Royal Signals from July 1975 to October 1989 in roles in Northern Ireland, West Germany and the UK. Gwen’s service was terminated by the Army due to her gender identity, a policy for which the Prime Minister apologised last year following publication of the Etherton Report into the treatment of LGBT+ veterans.
Gwen was presented with a beret, cap badge and a new certificate of service.
