On the 11th December Captain Lynn Leatherby (Technical Officer Telecommunications), of 21 Signal Regiment (Electronic Warfare), travelled with the Corsham and Colerne Military Wives Choir to Buckingham Palace to sing a birthday song for King Charles and Queen Camilla.
Having joined the choir in May 2022 whilst finding her voice on maternity leave, Captain (TOT) Leatherby has had the opportunity to perform with her fellow choristers singing in Menin Gate, Bath Abbey and many more local events in between.
Then in the summer of 2024 the Military Wives Choirs were approached by Buckingham Palace to see if they wanted to create and sing a birthday song for the King to help celebrate his 76th Birthday.
The Military Wives Choir songwriter, John McLaren, rose to the challenge. He along with Sean Hargreaves and Steve Turner arranged the lyrics into the wonderful song describing the night the King was born, the song is called “November Sunday” and is available to purchase online.
Captain (TOT) Leatherby and 24 other ladies were selected at random across all 70 choirs to perform their new single to the King in person.
Captain (TOT) Leatherby said:
“It was a pleasure to be asked to take part in this once in a lifetime experience performing November Sunday for Their Majesties at Buckingham Place this week.”
