The Royal Signals Museum is proud to announce the launch of a multimedia storytelling experience as part of a significant new collaboration with global giving organisation Bloomberg Philanthropies. Drawing on an exclusive and expanding oral history collection, in which personalities from across the Corps tell stories of innovation and success, the free digital guide provides an opportunity to explore the challenges faced in an era of sophisticated digital warfare.
The guide’s specially curated digital exhibitions offer insight into operational life in diverse and challenging environments, including Afghanistan and Iraq. For fans of the BBC’s SAS Rouge Heroes series, the guide explores the story of the reconnaissance and raiding missions carried out by the Long Range Desert Group behind enemy lines during the Second World War. The launch of the Royal Signals Museum guide also coincides with the 60th anniversary of the last National Serviceman to be discharged from the British Army, with interview extracts illuminating life during this unique period.
Announcing the free digital guide, the Royal Signals Museum’s Head of Storytelling, Ryan Ellis, said:
“At our interactive galleries near Blandford, the Royal Signals Museum details the extraordinary stories of Royal Signals soldiers who have pushed personal and technological boundaries for more than a century.”
“With the support of the prestigious Bloomberg Philanthropies organisation, and in joining the Bloomberg Connects app, a greater number of people will be able to access this important story of ground-breaking innovation in battlefield technology.”
Free via Apple Store or Google Play, Bloomberg Connects can be used at the Museum or offsite on either a smart phone or tablet device. It bolsters the Museum’s lively education and outreach programme which includes STEM sessions for youth groups and schools in onsite classrooms.
