On 8 November 2025, two outstanding parades marked the affiliation of local cadet units with the Royal Signals in Somerset. The events took place in Midsomer Norton and Radstock, showcasing the dedication and professionalism of our young cadets and their adult volunteers.
At Midsomer Norton, the Army Cadet Force Detachment paraded 45 cadets supported by 6 Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (CFAVs). Meanwhile, in Radstock, the Writhlington School Combined Cadet Force Contingent turned out in impressive numbers, with 110 cadets and 10 CFAVs on parade.
The weather could not have been better – bright sunshine and no rain – creating the perfect backdrop for these well-executed parades. Both contingents demonstrated exceptional discipline and enthusiasm, reflecting the values and traditions of the Royal Signals. Their efforts were simply splendid and a credit to their units, schools, and communities.
Colerne's 21st Signal Regiment (Electronic Warfare) provided a very effective demonstration team at each parade which drew much attnetion and questions from the Midsummer Norton and Radstock based cadets.
These events highlight the strong bond between the Royal Signals and the cadet forces, inspiring the next generation of leaders and signallers. Congratulations to all involved for making these parades a resounding success.
