Raising Mental Health Awareness from the Middle East

During International Men’s Health Week (14-20 Jun), in temperatures exceeding 42°C, Major Dan Bergman (Corps of Royal Engineers) and Captain Callum Napier (Royal Corps of Signals) will put on their body armour and walk for 24hrs straight. Challenging themselves mentally and physically they want to encourage conversation about mental health and raise money for Combat Stress.

Combat Stress have been working hard throughout the pandemic supporting British veterans affected by mental health issues. All funds raised will go towards ensuring Combat Stress can continue to offer their valuable and vital service. Anyone wishing to help support can click here.

The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted or halted critical mental health services in 93% of countries worldwide while the demand for mental health is increasing, as reported by the WHO. International Men’s Health week 21 has the theme of better mental health in a COVID world and this is why Dan and Callum want to encourage people to get active and/or just come and talk.

Working in a multinational environment, and recognising the global impact of the pandemic, Dan and Callum are looking to get as many of their international colleagues involved as possible. Inviting anyone to join them and get active for a few laps, or even just to join for a quick chat if it’s needed.

“Hopefully by a little bit of suffering on our part, we can show people that they don’t have to suffer alone or in silence,” said Maj Bergman.
