R SIGNALS Soldiers take part in Trailwalker 2023 - the ultimate team endurance event

Ex TRAILWALKER finds its origins in Hong Kong in 1981 as a training exercise along the Maclehose Trail. In 1997, the exercise moved to the South Downs, following the relocation of the Brigade of Gurkhas to the UK.   The challenge is to walk, jog or run 100km non-stop across the South Downs Way in under 30 hours in a team of four.  This year 111 military and 78 civilian teams took part, setting off from the Queen Elizabeth Country Park on Saturday morning and finishing at Brighton Racecourse.  There were checkpoints roughly every 10km along the route, where teams could meet their support crew to grab some food and water or change kit. At Checkpoint seven there was the opportunity to get a hot meal to keep them going through the night.

Well done to everyone who took part, helped organise it (in particular the Queen's Gurkha Signals) and massive congratulations to the winning team (QGS) who completed the challenge in 10hrs 23mins! Thank you to everyone who took part, you helped raise a huge amount of money for The Gurkha Welfare Trust.
