LCpl Emma Hudson was in the regulars for around 7 years, as a Communication Systems Operator, the majority of her time was spent in Germany at 1 (UK) Armoured Division & Signal Regiment, now 1 Signal Regiment. She deployed on various exercises and deployments including BATUS and Op HERRICK 20 which saw the repatriation of UK Armed Forces from Afghanistan (the final herrick).
LCpl Hudson then joined the Corps Engagement Team (recruitment) for 3 years based in Blandford and was the ‘face of the corps’ in recruiting events around the UK.
On leaving the army she went travelling and worked on super yachts for a few years before re-joining as a reservist with 39 Signal Regiment, her day job is working for the MOD as a Project Manager within Defence Digital.
LCpl Hudson said “The reason I re-joined was because I missed the opportunities available from serving in the Armed Forces, the feeling of working in challenging environments and also leading sport and training with younger soldiers; not to mention the sporting and adventure training opportunities. I am now back in the reserves and looking to continue my career.”
LCpl Hudson has been a Corps instructor on the Royal Signals Alpine Ski Camp (Exercise Alpine Mercury Glacier) and also competed in the race week and took home 3 medals, winning the Female Slalom Championships for the Royal Signals. She holds Ski Leader 1 and BASI Level 2 ski qualifications and has been instructing novices from the R SIGNALS and also helps out as a race coach.
