Cpl Henry Rodger, affectionately known at “Dodger” within 32 Signal Regiment joined the Territorial Army in 1979. He served in the RLC as a driver until his current TA unit converted to the Scottish Yeomanry and he became a Trooper. In 1999 further changes at the TA unit and 52 (Lowland) Signal Squadron moved in and “Dodger” became a Signaller. He remained in that role until he reached the then maximum age of 45 when, to allow him to continue to serve, he retrained as a chef and rebadged back to the RLC.
“Dodger” has remained with the Regiment since then and remains one of the most popular characters in the Regiment, throwing himself into every aspect of Regimental life. In terms of fitness he works hard and is the equal of most of those many years his junior. In civilian life “Dodger” works for Scottish Water, Lt Col Iain Davidson says "it might be worrying to some that a chef is also employed in a waste water treatment plant, but Dodger excels at everything he turns his hand to. He will be a huge loss to the Regiment and will be sorely missed by all of us when he hangs up his boots” in March 2020.
