Ex KIWI REFRESH was an event to restore the Kiwi depiction on Beacon Hill on 15 June 2022. The Kiwi monument was carved in chalk by New Zealand Expeditionary Force at the end of the First World War in 1919 whilst awaiting repatriation. The last restoration took place in June 2018.

As custodians of the monument, 249 Gurkha Signal Squadron organised a one-day event, in conjunction with Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) to de-weed, re-edge and re-chalk the Kiwi monument. The participants gathered on the hill to restore the Kiwi to its original shape and were entertained by a traditional Khukuri dance, and sustained with a traditional Gurkha lunch.
