Single Malt Scotch Whisky
A number of years ago whilst posted in Scotland, a Corps Officer was having a strategic thinking session in the Sir John Moore and came up with an idea to deliver a Corps Centenary Single Malt Scotch Whisky for 2020. In order to deliver such a project, it required some significant belief from the Corps, and a far sighted approach, put simply “one does not just produce a whisky”, well not a 10 year single malt anyway. The Corps Centenary Whisky is a product of thought, long term planning and in the drinking, sheer joy. Distilled at the Tomatin Distillery in the Highlands, a Distillery that has been operating beside the Alt-Na-Frith burn since 1897, the Corps Whisky, was born in February 2010. Earlier this year, the whisky was re-casked into a fresh sherry cask, maturing the whisky in its final stages in this way is likely to mellow it, whilst adding complexity and body to the final product. It will be bottled in numbered bottles and will come packaged in a Celebratory Centenary Presentation Box (also numbered).
Aptly named “The Spirit of Radio”, the whisky describes the Espirit de Corps and dedication of the thousands of soldiers that have proudly worn “Jimmy” as their cap badge, as they have served at home and abroad over the past 100 years.
The Spirit of Radio will be available to buy in two ways:
- A select number of numbered bottles will be available through an online auction process, with bids starting at £50.
- The remaining bottles will be available to buy directly through the Corps website for £50 including P&P.
It should be noted that all bottles will be numbered and it is expected that approximately 340 70cl bottles will be produced. This is a unique Corps Centenary product. There is no more of this specific whisky available.
R SIGNALS Centenary Whisky can only be purchased by people living in the UK. Unfortunately, we do not accept orders from and/or deliver to addresses outside the UK or to the Channel Islands.
The cost of delivery is included in the purchase price. The R SIGNALS Centenary Whisky will be delivered to the distributor from the distillery during the first week of December 2020. Although they will endeavour to distribute all orders to arrive before Christmas, this cannot be guaranteed. For any delivery enquiries contact events@royalsignals.org.
