Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Corps of Signal, HRH The Princess Royal, Visits 14th Signal Regiment (Electronic Warfare)
HRH Princess Royal visits soldiers and families at 14 Signal Regiment (EW) at Cawdor Barracks in Pembrokeshire, Wales as part of her ongoing commitment as our Colonel-in-Chief.
HRH Princess Royal presents honours and awards to 8 Serving Personnel one MSM, one QCVS and a mixture of OSMs for Op Shader and a GSM for West Africa
It was a great honour and privilege to welcome HRH The Princess Royal to 14th Signal Regiment (Electronic Warfare) to Cawdor Barrack on the 28 Oct 21. Despite the typically wet and windy weather of west Pembrokeshire, HRH was welcomed by the Colonel Mark Brookes (Corps Colonel). This was her 3rd visit to a Royal Signals unit within the last 6 months and, as always, she took time to talk with as many soldiers as possible from a plethora of backgrounds and trade groups.
During the visit HRH received an update on the demanding and challenging work that members of the Regiment are doing in support operations around the world including operations in Mali, Ukraine and Iraq. In addition to this work 14 Signal Regiment (EW) were also heavily involved with Op RESCRIPT (the military support to the pandemic response) so this was a great opportunity for HRH to hear some incredible stories of professionalism and commitment from our soldiers during this time. Following this, HRH presented a number of honours and awards including a Meritorious Service medal (MSM) for Capt David Corcoran (a previous Corps Sergeant Major) and a Queens Commendation for Valuable Service (QCVS) for SSgt Ashley Roylance. In addition to these awards another six members of the Regiment were presented with operational service medals for service around the world. The visit was an amazing success and it was wonderful for so many members of the Regiment to get the opportunity to meet and talk to HRH, a memory that they will not soon forget.

I know that all of the soldiers and officers thoroughly enjoyed talking to HRH and those who were presented with medals, honours and awards and importantly their families, will never forget the experience.“
