LCpl P Wilberforce was born and raised in Ghana, West Africa. After finishing school, he joined the British Army as a Commonwealth soldier, serving as a Rifleman in 5th Battalion The Rifles. As his career progressed, he decided to transfer to the Royal Signals and retrained as a Supply Chain Operative with the goal of developing a career in logistics and supply chain management and was posted to the 13 Signal Regiment, the Army’s only Cyber Regiment.
It was here that he discovered his exceptional talents in two very different skills. Firstly, he became a key part of the Unit's tug-of-war team and was quickly talent-spotted by the Army team reps. So far, he's gained colours for representing the Royal Signals, the Army and the UK Armed Forces.
Secondly, his amazing talent for photography emerged. He entered the Royal Signals Institution (RSI) 2022 photography competition and won the prize in the sport and adventure training.
His achievements highlight not only his hard work, talent and dedication but also the quality of training and sporting opportunities available to personnel in the Royal Signals.
This Commonwealth Day, we want to highlight his story to congratulate him and as a reminder of the close ties between the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth.
