What an absolutely brilliant weekend we have had at Blandford Camp, home of the Royal Signals, the first time since the pandemic that we've been able to meet at full capacity to celebrate the Corps' birthday. Hundreds of veterans and families alongside serving soldiers gathered to watch a fantastic parade under the watchful eye of Maj General Sharon Nesmith, the Master of Signals.
Lt Col Rebecca Jacques-Grey, Commanding Officer at 11 (RSS) Sig Regt said, ‘We've all faced many challenges in the past year due to the disruption of the Covid-19 pandemic and significant changes in our training schedules. Everyone has been really busy getting back on track, and it's a great testament to the dedication of staff and students who worked hard to prepare for this parade mainly out of hours. All the soldiers and officers on parade today should be very proud of their efforts."
Garrison Sgt Maj Louis Simpkins said, ‘Everyone involved in running the Corps Weekend has done so with a great amount of pride. This year, we've welcomed back retired members of the Royal Signals for the first time since 2019, and there has been a real sense of a family reunion."
Hosted by 11 (RSS) Sig Regt which provides trade and specialist training for the Royal Signals, the weekend also included family stands and a fascinating series of talks by some of our Falklands Conflict veterans, who gave a very moving account of their experiences 40 years ago.
