The Course is an amalgamation of trades to meet the increasing demand from the Field Army to provide digital skills training as part of the Future Soldier initiative. The 16-week long course covers modules including engineering principles, wireless technologies and telecoms.
To meet the increasing demands of the British Army to provide highly skilled, trained professionals in network engineering, the Royal Signals has developed a specialist course covering all aspects of the trade. The first group of 15 soldiers has just graduated, providing them with system engineering skills and experience that draws on both military and civilian best practise and provides a route to further qualifications.
SSgt Katie Smith who is the course co-ordinator said ‘I feel very lucky to have been involved with delivering this new course to soldiers who will be making a big impact in the field army with the skills they now have.’
CISCO CCNA – Switching, Routing and wireless essentials (SRWE), CCNA – Enterprise Networking, Security and Automation (ENSA).
With numerous courses scheduled each year after which soldiers will then be posted to the Field Army working on secure platforms.
Sig Coleman, who graduated from the course said, ‘We found the instructors to be knowledgeable, engaging and supportive. The course was pitched at the right level and was pretty much perfect in length. I am now looking forward to getting to my first unit!'
