On May 8th, 2025, the world will mark a poignant milestone—the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day. A day that commemorates the end of World War II in Europe, VE Day stands as a powerful reminder of the courage, sacrifice, and unity of those who fought for freedom.
In honour of this historic occasion, a dedicated team of six will embark on an inspiring endurance challenge, dubbed the #80for80Challenge. The team includes:
Cpl Amir Rai, Cpl Biswas Gurung, Cpl Birendra Sanba, Cpl Nalewabau, Cpl Flynn, and LCpl Sajan Pun (Royal Signals HQ).
This hybrid endurance challenge involves completing 80 kilometres—a symbolic number in line with the VE Day anniversary—across three demanding disciplines: Running, Cycling, and Rowing, all within an 8-hour window. The event will take place at the Blandford Garrison Gymnasium Football Cage on Thursday, 8 May 2025, from 0900 to 1700 hrs.
Beyond the physical feat, the challenge has a deeply personal and professional significance for the team. As active members of the Royal Corps of Signals, the group is committed to raising vital funds for the Royal Signals Charity (RSC)—a cause close to their hearts.
The team has set an ambitious goal to raise £1,000 for the Royal Signals Charity. Every contribution, no matter the size, will help provide essential resources and support to members of the Corps past and present.
